Museum Of The Ursern Valley, Andermatt
The house, which ranks among the most beautiful patrician builduings in the Ursern valley, was built in 1786 by the president of the village Franz Dominik Nager. Because of the fact that the spacious residential and business house served the Russian field marshall Suworow as headquarters on the 25th of September in 1799, it was henceforth called the "Suworow house" among the population.
The present-day museum has been built accordant to an edificial schema for patrician buildings which is characteristic of the second half of the 18th century. The building's effect is founded in its gabled structure and its broad and high dimensions. Inside, the building owns an inimitable furnishing. The pannelling, doors and the furniture are coordinated in late baroque style. The principal item of the museum is the home decor with the the stateroom. Together with alternating exhibitions, the following topics are being dealt with: history of the valley, home decor, natural produce, alpine farmstead, tourism etc.
