Historic Museum Uri, Altdorf
Main focuses of the exhibition: Museum building in neo-Gothic style (1906); ecclesiastical art, among other things the outstanding collection of wooden figures, portraits, replication of the celtic treasure of Gold, Alemannian tomb, models of several castles in Uri, banners, weapons, traditional costumes, ancient national customs, stagecoach.
The current focus of the exhibition lies on: churchly art, among others a remarkable collection of wooden sculptures, portraits, the reproduction of the Celts’ treasure of gold, the tomb of the Alemanni, models from castles in Uri, flags, weapons, traditional costumes, folkloristic customs and devoutness, traffic, among others the stagecoach.
The History Association Uri is the supporter of the museum. Its main tasks are: furnishing and maintenance of the History Museum; display of the permanent and temporary exhibitions; complementation and cultivation of the collection; inventory and exploration of the objects; intermediation by organising events, club meetings, guided tours and publication of the annals.
