Dörflihaus Museum, Spiringen
The museum Dörflihaus (950 m a.s.l.) is the most significant museum of the Schächen valley on the way to the Klausen pass. It exhibits precious documents and objects from the Schächen valley, among others things to do with farming and alpine agriculture, forestry and wood, traffic and tourism, folks and herdsmen, customs and artisan craftwork dating from the time of as early as 1196 up to the second world war.
The centrepiece of this exhibition is the deed of foundation from 1290 and the annal from 1290/1515. This book lists the most relevant family names from Spiringen, whose members played a role in the foundation of the Swiss Confederation in 1291, for example Walter von Spiringen, Stauffacher, Fürst, Brücker, Herger and Imhof. Alongside with the Bundesbrief (letter of alliance), these objects represent some of the most significant evidences on the origin of the Swiss Confederation.
