The “House of Folk Music” dedicates itself to the exploration, documentation and development of Swiss folk music as an original component of the common European cultural heritage.

As a national centre of competence it promotes the liveliness of Swiss folk music in regional and stylistic expressions. With this aim in view, it launches a wide range of activities and enters into longterm cooperations with institutions that have similar aims. It fosters the exchange of related musical areas both from the Alpine regions as well as from abroad. Just as the international music festival “Alpentöne”, the House of Folk Music is supported by the canton and the municipality.
